Tessa is the AI assistant built into every Testifly project. She lives on the Ask Tessa page in your dashboard, where you type questions or requests in your own words — in any language — and she answers, looks things up, or takes action in your project.

Can Tessa create tests for me?

Yes. Ask Tessa to write a test for a feature or a described flow, and she drafts the test name, description, and steps. She always shows you the draft first and asks for confirmation before the test is actually created.

Can Tessa create or edit features?

Yes. Tessa can create a new feature from a description or a linked Jira or Linear issue, and she can edit an existing feature. Before creating a feature, she checks whether a feature with the same URL already exists and tells you if it does, so you don't end up with duplicates.

Does Tessa work with Jira and Linear?

Yes. If your project has Jira or Linear connected, Tessa can search for issues, look up issues by key, list Jira issues moved to Ready for Testing, and list Linear issues changed in the last day, then use them to create or link features.

Does Tessa remember earlier messages in the conversation?

Yes. Each conversation is a saved session. Reopening the same chat link restores the full message history, and the Clear Chat button starts a brand-new session.

Can I attach files when chatting with Tessa?

Yes. The chat input accepts a file attachment alongside your message, up to the project's configured attachment size limit. Tessa reads the attachment as part of answering your question.

What happens if I ask Tessa to do something she can't do?

Tessa replies that she can't do that yet and gives you a link to submit feedback or a feature request, instead of guessing or pretending to complete the action.

Does Tessa respond instantly?

Tessa streams her answer back word by word as she generates it, rather than making you wait for the full response, and she shows a short status note while she is calling a tool, such as fetching test results.

Tessa AI Assistant

Tessa is the AI assistant built into every Testifly project. Open Ask Tessa from your project dashboard and type a question or request in your own words, in any language — Tessa reads your project’s features, tests, and test results, answers, and can take action for you when you ask her to.

Each conversation is saved as a session: reopening a previous chat link restores the full message history, and the Clear Chat button ends the current session and starts a fresh one. Responses stream in as Tessa generates them, so you see the answer forming instead of waiting for it to finish. You can also attach a file to your message, up to the project’s attachment size limit, and Tessa reads it as part of her answer.

What Tessa can do

Answer questions about your project

Ask Tessa about your features, tests, test runs, or UI components, and she looks up the current data and answers with links straight to the relevant page.

Examples:

“What tests do we have for the checkout feature?”
“Show me the latest run results for the login test.”
“List all the UI components on the signup page.”
“What test suites exist in this project?”

Draft and create tests

Tessa can write a new test for a feature or a flow you describe. She always shows you the draft — name, description, and steps — and asks you to confirm before the test is actually created.

Examples:

“Create a test that checks a user can reset their password.”
“Write a test for the flow where an admin invites a teammate.”

Edit existing tests

Ask Tessa to change the steps, description, or details of a test that already exists, without opening the test editor yourself.

Examples:

“Update the login test to include a step for checking the ‘remember me’ checkbox.”
“Add an assertion to the checkout test that verifies the confirmation email is sent.”

Create and edit features

Tessa can create a new feature from a plain description or link one to a Jira or Linear issue. Before creating a feature, she checks whether a feature with the same URL already exists, so you’re warned before creating a duplicate.

Examples:

“Create a feature for the new billing page at /settings/billing.”
“Update the description of the onboarding feature to mention the new welcome screen.”

Search and link Jira issues

When Jira is connected, Tessa can search Jira issues, look one up by its issue key, and find issues that have moved to a “Ready for Testing” status — useful for turning a Jira ticket into a Testifly feature or test.

Examples:

“Find the Jira issue about the payment gateway timeout.”
“What Jira issues are ready for testing right now?”
“Look up Jira issue PROJ-482 and create a feature from it.”

Search and link Linear issues

When Linear is connected, Tessa can list your Linear teams, search Linear issues, look one up by key, and list issues that changed in the last day.

Examples:

“What Linear teams are connected to this project?”
“Search Linear for issues about the search bar bug.”
“What Linear issues changed in the last 24 hours?”

Link you straight to the right page

Whenever Tessa references a feature, test, run, or suite, she includes a link to that exact page — no digging through menus to find what she’s talking about.

Ask a clarifying question

If Tessa needs more information before she can act — for example, which feature a new test belongs to — she asks you directly instead of guessing.

Tell you honestly when she can’t help

If you ask for something outside what Tessa currently supports, she says so plainly and gives you a link to submit feedback or a feature request, rather than fabricating an answer.

Tips for working with Tessa

Be specific about which feature, test, or issue you mean — names and IDs both work.
When Tessa drafts a test or feature, review the draft before confirming; nothing is created until you say yes.
If a Jira or Linear search comes back empty, double-check that the integration is connected in Settings > Integrations.
Start a new session with Clear Chat when you want to switch topics — long, mixed-topic threads make it harder for Tessa to keep context.
